ALTAR CALL
By Danney Ball,

The canvas tent was going up
on a Tuesday in the rain
where that sandlot baseball diamond is at 34th and main
then
on Friday nite I heard singing and what sounded like a prayer
so I walked on down
cause a voice in side just seemed to draw me there
.
Well a man who did the
talking just seemed to speak to me
His message from the Bible was as plain as
it could be
"Where will you spend eternity" then he spoke of judgement
day
everytime he said "let me clarify this" I swear he looked my way
.
then
the choir started singing ans the preachers voice got soft
he talked about a Savior
bought Him dying on a cross
When he told about forgiveness and a life beyond the
grave
it made me want to reach out and have what he called being saved
.
CHORUS:
It
was an altar call that turned my life around
one last verse of one last song that
drew me from the crowd
I remember well those pleading words down deep inside
Oh
thank you Lord for that altar call ... Jesus Christ ...
the one who saved my life
.
SECOND
VERSE:
When I kneeled with others there to bare my soul to all
the preacher
said that as I did Christ was pointing out to God
one single heart just crying
out a sinner coming home
It meant so much to know that now I wouldn't face eternity
alone
.
REPEAT CHORUS:
It was an altar call that turned my life around
one
last verse of one last song that drew me from the crowd
I remember well those
pleading words down deep inside
Oh thank you Lord for that altar call ... Jesus
Christ ...
the one who saved my life
.
VOCAL BRIDGE:
taste it again for
the very first time
drink in again bring peace to your mind
open your heart
let His love in your life
answer the call accept Jesus Christ
.
I oftn wonder
what would have happened if on that far off summer night
they would have skipped
the altar call the one that brought me light
to step out from that seat and walk
what seemed to be a mile
I knew the way to find my life was to walk down that
center eisle
.
REPEAT CHORUS:
It was an altar call that turned my life
around
one last verse of one last song that drew me from the crowd
I remember
well those pleading words down deep inside
Oh thank you Lord for that altar call
... Jesus Christ ...
the one who saved my life
.
TAG:
